The mission of Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist is to actively participate in the distribution of the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ to our fellow congregants, both at Mass and for the homebound. Serving as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist is an honor and a privilege and does involve some training. We invite you to join the ministry as one way to serve God's people.

Please contact us if you are interested or have questions at eucharist@catholicshrineatlanta.org.

Lectors

Lectors at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception serve the parish by proclaiming the Word of God during Sunday Mass and for special liturgical events, such as our Music Service before the night Mass on Christmas Eve.

Parishioners who want to proclaim the Word at the Shrine should have a strong speaking voice and a prayerful attitude toward the Scriptures.  New lectors receive a brief orientation to prepare them to be an active part of the Liturgy of the Word and to acclimate them to the use of the church's sound system.  Lectors are scheduled once every two-month period to proclaim at the Mass of their choice (currently 8:30 or 11:00).

As in the other ministries here at the Shrine, we welcome new parishioners to become involved and to use their gifts in service to the parish community.  For more information you can send email to lectors@catholicshrineatlanta.org.

Ushers

Ushers at the Shrine make every parishioner and visitor feel welcomed and valued when they enter the church. Ushers maintain an environment free from interruptions so the congregation feels comfortable when worshiping God. They succeed when both newcomers and regular members feel they are part of a loving and accepting church family.

If you would like to become an usher or are just seeking more information, please email ushers@catholicshrineatlanta.org.
