Position Title: Director of Music Ministries

Position Overview
The Director of Music Ministries is responsible for fostering a prayerful, singing assembly that embraces the Gospel message through music. This position requires collaboration with parish ministries, a commitment to liturgical excellence, and a focus on inspiring participation at all worship services.
Key Goals
1. Leadership in Worship
- Develop a vibrant, prayerful assembly through thoughtful music selection, preparation, and ongoing evaluation.
- Inspire and challenge the congregation to engage deeply with the Gospel message through song and worship.
2. Program Development and Growth
- Build and support congregational singing at the 8:30 and 11:00 Sunday liturgies, utilizing existing choral ensembles.
- Enhance the liturgical understanding of the congregation through educational materials, imaginative programming, and weekly engagement.
- Increase regular attendance at liturgies by ensuring high-quality, spiritually enriching music.
- Expand choir membership at all masses and recruit, train, and sustain the cantor ministry.
Responsibilities
The Director of Music Ministries will:
- Oversee Music for Worship and Parish Events: Manage music for all worship services, religious education programs, social ministries, and parish evangelization efforts.
- Lead Liturgies: Serve as the primary accompanist (organ or piano), cantor, or choir director for at least two liturgies each Sunday and on major feast days.
- Coordinate Musicians**: Recruit, train, and schedule musicians for all parish liturgies and celebrations.
- Collaborate on Liturgical Planning: Work with the Parish Liturgy Committee to plan music for weekly services and special celebrations, including:
- Weekly Eucharistic celebrations, Holy Week services (Easter Vigil, Holy Thursday, Good Friday), Holy Days of Obligation, and All Souls Day.
- Communal sacramental celebrations, such as confirmations.
- Weddings and funerals.
- Expand Music Ministry Programs:
- Build and sustain a children’s choir and a bell choir.
- Collaborate with the Atlanta Homeward Choir team.
- Partner with neighborhood churches to organize the annual Palm Sunday interfaith procession and Christmas on the Hill concert.
Reporting and Continuing Education

Reports to: The Director of Music Ministries reports directly to the Pastor.

Meetings: Attendance at weekly meetings with the Pastor, monthly staff meetings, and other assigned meetings is required.
- Professional Development: Pursue continuing education in musical-liturgical studies, focusing on liturgical preparation and planning.
Evaluation
The Pastor will conduct an annual performance evaluation of the Director of Music Ministries.

Compensation
This is a salaried position in line with NPM guidelines, with access to full Archdiocesan benefits.
