Our Visitors Say
"I just wanted to drop you all a quick note to say – thank you for your incredibly welcoming, diverse and charming church and community.  I attended Mass this past Sunday at the shrine – first time visitor – and just fell in love with it.  Sadly, I’m a lazy churchgoer on a good day, of late, but I truly loved your service and your parish community.  I wish I didn’t live so far away, because the Shrine is the first place I’ve been to in a long time that I can actually say I think would be a fantastic church home.  That’s amazing, and thank you very much for helping me really feel the spirit again for the first time in a very, very long time.  God bless."
"Thanks again – wishing you all great things for your ministry!"
Lucy from Washington DC
"I want to thank you so much for your kindness when meeting with me.  It really was an important day for me.  I never thought I could do it, but you made the experience such a joyful one.  I left there with a truly peaceful heart, ready to begin my renewed relationship with the church."
"The Lord is risen!  That beautiful Easter Vigil service last night at the Shrine really drove tht home.  What an AMAZING community God has built on the corner of MLK and Central.  I love the demographics of the congregation (incorrible liberal that I am…) but more importantly I was struck by the warmth, hospitality, enthusiasm, and reverence of the people there.  God’s spirit was so palpable.  What a place."
"The Good Friday Adoration of the Cross service was very moving.  We’ve never been in a church where the cross was passed up and down the pews so that everyone could help bear its weight….powerful.  The Vigil was another remarkable ceremony… loved the pitchers of water being processed up the aisle to the font, was so touched when Father Henry thanked the respective denominations for having raised each candidate in the love of God, was glad to see the “new” Catholics preparing the altar, really was impressed by the huge amount of lay involvement in the whole service.  I’ve always felt the laity is a sleeping giant that needs to be awakened and empowered, and the Shrine has so obviously done that.  Father outside that I thought the service was beautiful…and that I didn’t know Catholics could sing!"
"I want to thank you and your parishioners for the wonderful welcome we experienced at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception when we attended Mass.  It is always interesting to visit parishes around the country when we are traveling.  We felt welcome and “at home” the minute we walked through the doors.  Coming from Montana, we have heard a lot about southern hospitality and we certainly experienced that at your church.  I think what impressed my wife and me the most was the feeling of community and love that was obviously present.  The Spirit was definitely flowing through everyone present that day.  It was all the “extras” that added up to make it a wonderful experience for us; the name tags that people wore, the choir that sang so beautifully, the great homily you gave, standing up and being acknowledged as visitors, the little boy stomping his way to the pew, and the authentic friendliness of the parishioners.  All in all, you made our day and presented us with a fantastic welcome to Atlanta!"
Jeff and Phyllis from Helena Mt
"I get this opportunity to write you some words.  It been a very good experience to come to the beautiful church of the Immaculate Conception for the celebration of the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday, celebrated with a great participation of people."
"It was very nice to see the church decorated with the red colors red and red T-shirts of the people.  Very touching even the ceremony of confirmation of five new members.  Congratulations to the chorus and participation of the ceremony and especially the music very beautiful."
"As I mentioned I was in Atlanta for work and did not want to miss the chance to go to mass.  A brief reference to our Catholic Community.  I live in Arese (near Milan) and our parish is called San Bernardino."
"Once again thanks and greetings."
Valerio from Milan, Italy
"Greta's wedding at the Shrine was truly a special event. Thank you. I receive many, many comments about the beauty of the church and the excellence of your ceremony. I am particularly impressed with your various ministries including your ministry to the gay and lesbian community."
Charles from Atlanta, Ga
"What a blessing the Immaculate Conception Community has been for us! You have welcomed us in and we have felt God's love and healing."
Patrick from Georgia
"We are extremely grateful to you and your congregation for providing a church where people feel so welcome and accepted. You recognize the value of each person. Your ministry reminds me of my favorite bumper sticker, 'God Bless Everyone - No Exceptions'."
