Sacramental Preparation for Adults
Are you interested in exploring the Catholic Faith? Are you a baptized Catholic who has not received communion or been confirmed?
Adults enter the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a process of education, reflection, and celebration of the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and first Eucharist. More information can be found on our Becoming Catholic, Adult Initiation (RCIA) page.
The Catholic Shrine is a beautiful and spiritual place to have your Catholic Wedding. Please call Fr. Henry at 404-521-1866 to make arrangements for your Catholic wedding preparation. More information about making reservations for your wedding ceremony can be found on our Wedding pages.
Have you been honored with the opportunity to become a godparent or have you been blessed with a baby that needs to be Blessed? Congratulations! The Shrine regularly holds classes for those preparing for the Baptism of an infant or child. Please call the Church office at 404-521-1866 for dates and to register.
For Annointing of the Sick please contact Fr. Henry at the Church office at 404-521-1866 to make arrangements.
Sacramental Preparation for Infants and Children
Infant Baptisms can be scheduled with Fr. Henry by calling 404-521-1866. Once your Baptism has been scheduled, please fill out this form and email or fax it to susank@catholicshrineatlanta.org in the Shrine's office. You may also contact the Office to sign up for one of the Baptism Preparation classes .
The Archdiocesan guidelines specify that the preparation and reception of the sacraments for children is as follows:
  • Reconciliation / Penance: 2nd Grade
  • 1st Holy Communion: 2nd Grade
  • Confirmation: 10th Grade
Candidates must be active participants in the School of Religion for the full year in which the sacrament is to be received. If you know of any young person who meets the above criteria and is not currently registered, encourage them to call the Parish Office at 404-521-1866.
Sacramental Record Requests
The Shrine keeps records of all Sacraments celebrated here after 1920. We also keep the records for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home, and for a catholic mission. Because all of these archived records are hand written, it can be very time consuming to locate older records - your patience is greatly appreciated! Sacramental records are not open to the public.
The following records are no longer kept at the Shrine but are housed with the Archdiocese Archivist. They can be accessed by contacting the Archivist at archives@archatl.com:
  • Baptisms 1846-1871
  • Baptisms 1872-1888
  • Baptisms 1901-1920
  • Marriages 1846-1871
  • Interments 1881-1910
  • Confirmations 1871-1921
Please, email your request for a record of your sacrament to Susan at susank@catholicshrineatlanta.org.
Be sure to include in your email:
  • the name of the Sacrament you are looking for the record of
  • your full name
  • if this is for a baptismal record, include the names of the child's parents
  • if this is for a marriage record, please include the full names of both bride and groom
  • The approximate year that the sacrament was received
  • If this is for an older record, any additional information you can provide would be helpful, such as the name of the priest
  • The location that the sacrament was received if it was celebrated at a mission, hospital or other location
  • The address you would like the record sent to
  • An email address and/or phone number you can be contacted at if there are any questions
